HHDC’s 1539 N. Pulaski Rehab Project Wins Adopt-A-Landmark Award

Our proposed rehab of 1539 N. Pulaski won a $510,000 Adopt-A-Landmark Grant from the City of Chicago. Known as Pioneer Arcade, the building’s front façade is a favorite of Chicago’s preservation community. The grant helps fund our long-time plan to restore the facade to its original look and preserve the first 30 feet of the building. New construction attached to the back of the building will make 61 new affordable senior apartments possible. The $28-million UrbanWorks-designed building brings much-need senior housing to the neighborhood.
