Upon his completion of the Teresa and Hipolito Roldan Fellow’s program in 2003, Antonio has worked in various capacities in the areas of affordable housing development, banking, mortgage financing, low-income housing tax credit syndications, real estate brokerage, and construction.
Since 2022, Antonio has been working at McCormack Baron Salazar (MBS) in San Antonio, Texas. MBS is one of the nation’s leading developers, managers, and asset managers of economically integrated, sustainable, urban neighborhoods that has invested over $5.6 billion, developed over 26,299 homes and 1.6 million square feet of commercial space in 239 development phases located in 54 cities throughout the country since its founding in 1973.
As a Project Manager for MBS, Antonio is currently working in partnership with Fort Worth Housing Solutions to develop approximately 900 units of mixed-income housing across six phases in the Stop Six neighborhood of Fort Worth, Texas. As part of the Stop Six Choice Neighborhood Transformation Plan, aligned with the three core goals of HUD’s Choice Neighborhood Initiative (CNI), the residential units being developed will replace distressed public and assisted housing with high-quality mixed-income housing that is well-managed and responsive to the needs of the surrounding neighborhood.
Throughout his career, Antonio has continued to pursue his passion for community development and neighborhood revitalization. Having been raised in a single-parent family of five in subsidized housing, Antonio knows from first-hand experience the impact such efforts have on the families as well as communities being served.
Antonio holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology with a minor in Latino/Latin American Studies from Northern Illinois University and a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning and Policy with concentrations in Community Development and Public Administration from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is a dedicated husband and father of two daughters and actively serves in a leadership capacity at his church.
