Rosa Y. Ortíz

AICP, LEED AP
Rosa Y. Ortíz

Ms. Ortiz is the principal and founder of 3e.Studio, a planning and community development consulting firm. She is a certified urban planner, and a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) accredited professional. She provides over two decades of leadership experience in government, corporate, and not-for-profit sectors. Her skills in urban planning, architecture, and real estate development are coupled with valuable knowledge in the implementation of projects. Her expertise includes quality-of-life plans, sustainable initiatives, equitable transit-oriented developments, strategic planning, and multicultural community engagement.

Born in Mexico City, Rosa is bilingual and bicultural and is proud to bring this to her work. Having come to the US at the age of 8 taught her to always be compassionate, and resourceful, and to value the importance of an education. She persevered to earn her BA in Architecture and an MA in Urban Planning and Policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She continues to nurture these values by mentoring younger professionals. Rosa brings clarity to complex issues at different scales. Her work is based on local, national, and global perspectives from practicums in Denmark, Mexico, China, France, and the United States.

Rosa is a Teresa and Hipolito Roldan Fellow, a Chicago Community Trust Fellow, an Arquitectos Legacy award recipient, and a ULI Vision Trkla Award winner. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners, American Planning Association, Aquitinas, and Arquitectos. In addition, she serves on the board of directors for Hispanic Housing Development Corporation and the Chicago Transit Authority.

She believes in carving space for everyone to succeed and in nurturing long-term partnerships. She lives with her husband and two daughters in Chicago. Rosa finds solace in swimming, dancing, and painting.
